Below is a list of 2009’s Top Ten Moments that everyone should recognize.  And in case you’re interested, I’ve listed My Top Ten 2009 Moments.  With that being said, I wish everyone a brighter 2010!

  1. Michael Jackson’s death is sure to top anyone’s list for 2009 most memorable moments.  No matter if you loved or hated Jackson, you were certain to experience shock as the news spread around the world.  An international entertainer and a house hold name, Jackson will leave a legacy that will be difficult to forget.
  2. Balloon Boy comes in at second.  We all look at his parents with disgust for staging their son’s disappearance in the name of fame.  And looking back, it’s quite humorous that he would convict his parents on national television.  A parental reminder that it’s very difficult to get a child under the age of seven to lie.  They tell everything!  I’m very happy that the truth came out in this instance and hope that the parents are prosecuted.
  3. Kanye West steals a moment from Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards and makes false accusations that Beyonce had the best video of ALL TIME.  I’m sure you remember this story vividly because it was the topic of talk shows, twitter, facebook and any other social media for at least a month.  I’m not sure what Kanye is doing right now, but I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that he’s remorseful for his outlandish behavior, and I even his false accusation that Beyonce had the best video of ALL TIME. lol
  4. Nobel Peace Prize to the President.  Only a year in the White House and the President has amazed us with his ability to gain the trust and approval of so many around the world. Particularly since politics has been an undesirable game to many until his reign in office.  Congratulations Obama!
  5. Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the infamous White House dinner crashers.  The nation watched with opened mouths as these two idiots crashed the White House dinner, loaded with a film crew and camera. If there were a top idiot list for 2009, these two would be top contenders. I guess this is the only list they can find themselves on for the next couple of years.
  6. A year of death for the NFL. Rest in peace Steve McNair and Chris Henry.  This was the year of deaths no doubt, but percentage wise for the NFL this was a crazy year in particular.
  7. Sarah Palin hits multi-million dollar deal for book deal and sells as number one in the country.  Wow – if there is any confidence that my books will sell, it would have to be that Palin was able to sell a book that very few people care little about.  She was widely disliked, except for a small percentage of the population. Congratulations Palin on your accidental success to fame.
  8. Gay Marriage Bill passes first round in Washington DC. Amazing how DC has struggled for years to have recognition as a state and legal representation in the Senate.  To no avail, efforts have gone hopeless.  Shockingly DC has no problem acknowledging gay marriage.  Maybe I’m confused, but this seems a bit backwards to me. Either way, the bill has made it’s stamp on the list of 2009 moments.
  9. Oprah announces that she will resign from producing America’s favorite talk show.  For supporters, fans, future book authors, this came as an unwelcomed announcement.  However there is talk that the diva of television talk shows will continue her journey on her network in 2011.  We will have to wait and see. Good luck Oprah.
  10. Economic downturn forces some to take advantage of business opportunities.  That’s right, 2009 has been a year to remember for those who have long time wished to pursue their own business, buy real estate, or do simple things such as write!  I’m proud to say that I fall in this category and that I’m confident that the doors will continue to open as I prepare to say farewell to 2009 and embrace 2010.  I wish everyone must success in what it is that they desire to accomplish!
